Basicly you can do exatly what i have done:
1) pick up the copy of Propacies for £9.99. GWP is the "origional" GW. its great to start with 2) at a later point, get factions for £29.99. GWF is the next "chapter" of GW. you can add it to your GWP account to allow you to do the new missions and travel to cantha. you could alternativly just get GWF- it can be stand alone as well the new chapter Nightfall comes out in a week-you could just wate for that- but i recon that GWP for £9.99 is a hell of a bargin and worth grabbing all the packs are on the same world, just different continents. having GWP, GWF and GWN when it comes out means you can travel between each continent. Yes, you can link the three different games.
They can be used standalone or linked (your account is linked with the cd-keys for each game). Prophecies is the original Factions came second And Nightfall releases oct. 27th. Each has their own "world", or pve element, pvp is shared (not all, but alot is on the battle isles), so if you see a character you're not familiar with in let's say, heroe's ascent, he's from a different chapter , as prophecies only has 6, the other two chapters add two characters. |

If you mean "graphical changes" in the technical sense, then no, it's all the same. In the ascetic sense, then yes. Prophecies, Nightfall, and factions characters all have their own faces, hairstyles and all that. Each chapter also comes with its own armor selections, as well, but characters from one chapter can get the armor from any other chapter on the account. |

You really can't go wrong with starting on the original Guild Wars, aka Prophecies. It is a good campaign, good start-up for new players, good learning curve, good deal of content and hopefully a good price since it is an older title now. It also brings you into the story at the start as opposed to starting with Nightfall which is the 3rd of the series/trilogy.
Once you decide that you like it then at any time you can add Factions and/or Nightfall to your account to expand your content. Just be sure to add them to the existing account rather than create a new account for them since you want to be able to move all your characters between all the content. They are standalone so you could start with any that you prefer though and add them in any order if desired. |

I missed out on the trial of PvE nightfall but from what i have heard it ties with factions and i think factions had a descent story line, so if you want to start with proph i would say get factions then nightfall if u do decide to upgrade. and another thing is were i live u CAN NOT take the game back once you opened it so yes buy the cheaper one first.
The reasong being is that once u open the cd key thing that is your acount, and you can play without the CD aslong as u have the Acount. |
